Happy new year 2021, hoping it will be better than 2020...
Here is Tianyi Japanese! Used both sweet and normal voicebanks. This song was a hell to do, I posted a screenshot of the rendering on Twitter, and with all the effects there was on the song... A hell to render. To the point I couldn't even preview the song normally. I had at least to mute 2 tracks in order to so.
Music: reversed piano and background piano by Una Corda, lead piano by Noire, celesta by Mallet Flux (very subtle), guitars by Slayer (two different presets), bass by BooBass.
Little trivia fact: the original lyrics were in French and were built in a very different way. Adaptation of something that is already an adaptation. Ouch.

These are first the changes for 3 tracks.

"Closed Eyes" and "Drowning in the Styx": these are the less obvious ones, but the Neutron Elements got replaced by a Neutron 3 Advanced. Same preset however.

"Jade Mother Queen": in addition to the change done on the 2 other tracks above, I added patterns of yangqin (by the new Yangqin library by Native Instruments) and of guzheng (by the Plectra series one).

Now the info about the 8 inedite tracks:

"Clotho", "Lachesis", "Atropos": the 3 are sister songs about the 3 Moirai. Clotho is the one giving birth to the human and starting the thread, Lacheis is the one measuring the thread and thus continuing the life, Atropos is the one who cuts the thread with her scissors, causing death of the concerned person. They are all very feared by the mortals due to their influence on people's destinies. In the song, they all have a sort of more human face and feelings (a bit less for Atropos, but she still explains her reasons, talking about an equilibrium between alive/dead people).

"Obsession": (this song is considered as yandere) About a girl being the subject of obsession of a yandere girl, until she totally gets her mental broken by paranoia, by sensations of being observed in the dark, by opressed feelings... To the day she decides to burn the house of the one who is stalking her, totally deprived of any common sense and any thought. It's a very sad song, a "descent into hell" of a first very innocent character who gets intensively mentally destroyed.

"Not What It Seems": about a girl who is friends with another woman, even if the feelings tend to go towards love, but not completely, and imploring (if not threating) people to stop lying about their relationship.

"ANANKEA": (this song is considered as yandere) A mermaid who sees a young woman falling into the sea. She decides to save her but falls in love with her, and gets so obsessed with her she decides she would never return her to the human world, even deciding to kill anyone approaching her, afraid of them hurting her.

"Crying Fairy": this song is inspired from a story of Brittany. A man is being admired by almost everyone in the village, but he's already married to a woman. The story of the man's beauty goes even to the fairy world, where a fairy gets curious and falls in love with him. In order for her plan to succeed, she prepares a love potion. However, the man's wife, worried of not seeing her husband coming back home, prays so strongly that the man, after being attracted by the fairy's beauty, throws away the potion into the sea, rejecting the fairy. The fairy goes into the sea to get back her belonging, and remains there, crying and crying, making the sea as salty as we know it now.

"Recipe for Good Torture": (part of the Pandemonium series) Remember the demon Yukari was interpretating in "Pandemonium"? Here is the demon in question. Rathering to hurt people with the bad words the sinners have been using. And not using any physical violence. This is, for this demon, what the perfect recipe for good torture is.

Welp, this is how 2020 ends, with a damned virus, hoping that 2021 won't be as worse as 2020 was. Take care of yourselves. Wear face masks, stay at home when needed, be ready to make sacrifices.

To be honest, I didn't live the lockdown as harshly as some other people may have known. Probably due to my way of thinking and due to the fact I'm very awkward with people in general, I need a more limited sociability. And gosh, how this helped me.

Of course there were changes in my life. Just look at the songs done in March and April. "Little Closed World", the song that perfectly reflects how the lockdown had an impact on us.

86 songs released on 2020... That's way less than usual, but this year, I didn't feel too much fatigue. Unlike previous years.

So what's for 2021... You'll get "Awake Angel" with Tianyi on the 1st... Hoping to release it for midnight by scheduled release. Soon a new computer, because it was suffering when rendering this song (the ones on Twitter know what I'm talking about!), soon maybe CeVIO AI and SynthV AI... Who knows. 2021 will be weird.

You may have noticed it but there is an orange deadline in the right tab for deadlines. It's a new deadline for someone who wasn't in the team until yesterday.

This will probably be the last VOCALOID voicebank I'll ever get, if we put aside any future versions of VOCALOID.

I was really hesitating to get her and finally I launched myself, so... I decided to go on the English VOCALOID online shop and bought a Tianyi Japanese for less than $100 (I paid in USD because I noticed the conversion rate between euro/dollar was putting me in an unfavorable situation if I paid in euro directly, so I don't know yet the price in euros I actually paid - and just checked my bank account, the operation wasn't still counted).

For Tianyi, we are in a very exceptional case of... 3 deadlines.

- first deadline is December 24th (which is dead since I bought her on the 27th)
- second one is July 12th
- third one is January 1st

So the first song for 2021 will feature Tianyi! Yay!

For the ones who are following my Twitter account, I actually teased a bit Tianyi's arrival in a tweet. Especially when I mentioned Xin Hua in the tweet, it should have told you there was something going on with China.

Welp here it is, Tianyi Japanese, only download version due to technical issues, but here she is. So sorry no photo of package either. For the ones who really want proofs, the best I can give out would be a screenshot of the top of the email confirming the buying (with my real name censored because when you buy it on the shop, you have to assign the licensee name, so I had to put my real name).

Concerning other voicebanks:

- IA: I'm not really following her news recently but I need to see how her voicebank will be treated
- Rikka: Need several demos to see if she's worth it for me or not
- Yukari Rei: second demo sounds better than the first one, which had very awful motor noise and made her sound less human than her VOCALOID voicebanks. Buying very possible, with possibility to take from AHS store if possible (because we have reductions if we do so!) but it won't be before February/March anyway. (time to get some money back)
- Zunko, Itako, Kiritan: For NEUTRINO, noticed Kiritan had some humanity issues in her voice. If I notice this gets the same with Itako or Zunko (more especially Zunko...) I won't get the NEUTRINO VBs and will still stick to UTAU and VOCALOID.
- Saki for SynthV AI: from what I heard, this voicebank would join me very soon. Really good work on her. Same, need to get back some money with my future job to do so.

Things to keep in mind:
- Tianyi Japanese added to the team, download version only since unable to find a package for exportation without paying a way too expensive price
- possible future additions: Yukari Rei and Saki are the most confirmed, others need several checks on demo to check for quality issues or motor noise
- Tianyi has 3 deadlines, one of them is upcoming this week

Will inform you asap if I get an update on some things

Even if Christmas this year is a bit... Special?

Here are the other material acquired during this month that haven't been revealed yet:

1) major iZotope plugins upgrade

Gotten for about €150 (instead of €700)... The trio Neutron 3 Plus/Ozone 9 Advanced/Neutron 3 Advanced. Neutron 3 Plus has the famous EQ the new Elements ver was cruelly missing compared to the legacy Elements plugin for Nectar, so if I can find a preset that is very similar to the one I use on legacy, I'll switch to this trio instead. The changes for Ozone and Neutron will be transparent. Even for Neutron, the possibly updated tracks for the album of December 31st will use Neutron 3 Advanced since this version overwrites the Standard edition. Like even in the licenses manager for iZotope (called iZotope Launcher) it overwrote the license activation for the standard edition. And the plugin just got updated by itself, leading to Vegas Pro to load Neutron 3 Advanced instead of Neutron 3 Standard.

Ozone 9 Advanced and Neutron 3 Plus will NOT be used in the upcoming album. They are reserved for songs of 2021.

2) Kontakt libraries

Acquired Yangqin for free, and thanks Native, this plugin is just sweet cream <3 We still are missing a Discovery series for Eastern Asia, we're approaching!!!!

For paid libraries (paid €64): Plectra Series 5 - Guzheng and Koto Nation. For Black Friday their prices were not broken enough, there, it was the case. €32 each. Not bad. (total is €150 without reductions!)

That's one of the reasons I keep an eye on some products for the whole year: to find the best period when to acquire them...

3) Expansions

Soul Sessions with its little expansion Soul Magic. Later I bought separately Electric Vice then Lockdown Grind with the e-vouchers. All these things were gotten for half their price!

4) Finally a MIDI controller!

And the little choice that was recommended for me it's a Komplete Kontrol A49! OK for FL there are some buttons I can't use (because driver is not meant for this DAW, too bad, apparently they more use Logic or Ableton) but for some projects I'm doing in private but also for testing the presets in live when doing a song... It will totally change my life.

Instead of typing on a computer keyboard "blindly" without knowing for sure which key is which note... Neat.

So yeah I was awaiting for getting it for Christmas so I could announce you all the material changes! So no new voicebank for now. Maybe for 2021... Who knows, if other engines can get rid of their motor noise that is too obvious in the final mixdown of demo songs. And if voicebanks sound human enough for me.

(which is not really the case for Yukari Rei btw... I feel like we lost in quality compared to VOCALOID, that's disappointing...)

Other changes for 2021?

I have some plans for 2021, starting with... Getting a better laptop than the one I have right now. Because Straylight and Pharlight. For the ones who use these libraries, you know that the strict minimal to make them work is a iCore 7 processor. And that recommended processors for music making need 4 cores. Mine is a iCore7... But only has 2 cores. Making the following scheme for Straylight and Pharlight:

1 instance: OK, works not too bad by itself (note: with other instruments, CPU starts to be hurt)
2 instances: it starts to hurt
3 or more: don't even count on it!!!!!

These plugins are absolutely beautiful, they have gorgeous sounds... And I can't use them at their full potential. So when I'll get more money (after February 2021, since I'll get a job for 4 months on February if everything goes smoothly), I'll try to get a new laptop. With just switching its SSD for a bigger one and buying an external CD player.

Another possible plan, if they do it for next Black Friday, would be to upgrade to the Collector Edition of Komplete Ultimate. Only if they do a reduction on it.

Other mandatory buying: Vegas Pro upgrade on August 2021. But it's the usual.

This post is only for announcing an album, the material list of December will arrive after Christmas because the new set is not 100% done yet. I'm waiting for a material for Christmas. And no, it's not a voicebank.

Exceptionally, I'll release the CD30.5 called "Hellish Waters of Styx" on December 31, 2020 which is on a Thursday. (And not on a Saturday like I usually do for series albums)

The reason why is that some of the material will too drastically change on 2021. You'll have more explanations once the new set will be out.

Currently, all the songs for the album are done. I'll just need to make the eventual album tracks, the booklet and the certificates.

The album contains at least the following tracks released to the public:

Story: A dystopic universe where demons punish humans who commit the worst of the evil... By torturing them. When some demons are using actual physical torture, some others are using psychological methods, not sustaining the physical violence. At the end, the one who is getting punished gets their sanity totally destroyed and when they die, they arrive to a place where they have to make a choice. Limbos, where their life will be totally erased from existence, as you never existed. Or eternal slavery for the demon who tortured them.
Welcome to the Pandemonium, a place where the worst of humanity is making an ultimate choice.
I maybe should declare these series soon, there are actually many songs in the same universe...
